Ten rooms of wonderful resources!
Tillys Play & Development Centre, in Waratah, NSW, is one of several childcare centres run by Donna MacIntyre and her family. Tillys has ten rooms and caters for 162 children per day. At the time of opening, it was the largest childcare facility on the East Coast of Australia, and STE Products was chosen to be their sole provider of furniture and educational resources.
Donna was impressed with the professionalism shown at her first meeting with Dan Kennard, the Director of STE. “He really understood what we were looking for and was very prompt with his follow up. I liked that they had a huge range of products and were happy to research and find any particular items I wanted.”
The building previously housed a Rugby Union Club and Donna was keen to recycle timber where possible. “Our dining room space at Tillys is actually the original club’s dining room, and we recycled and reused the timber in the walls to maintain authenticity. We purchased natural hardwood tables and chairs from STE, which are the perfect complement.”
When asked about the ‘wow’ products at Tillys, Donna laughed: “We have so many wonderful resources and learning opportunities—I don’t know where to start! I’m a bit of a collector so some of the products were mine, but we used STE as our sole supplier so there’s ten rooms of STE Products to think about. I’ve already mentioned the natural furniture, which is my favourite. I also like the bamboo room dividers and bamboo shelving which give a nice homely feel to the rooms.”
“The children love our outdoor area,” Donna said. “The timber pirate ship from STE in our 0-3 year old yard is certainly a stand-out. Children have wonderful imaginations so it gets used for all sorts of dramatic play, not just pirate games!”
Donna is opening another new centre and has already decided to engage STE Products again. “It was a completely trouble-free experience, so I’ve got no hesitation. I particularly liked the way they sent a team to assemble and set everything up. They asked us what we wanted to prioritise in terms of room set up and just got to work. Once they’d finished, they removed all the rubbish and left everything clean and tidy.”
“Also, when setting up, we realised we needed more lockers,” Donna remembered. “They prioritised an order and the new lockers arrived really quickly. When you’re trying to fit out the largest centre on the East Coast of Australia, as we certainly were at the time, you really need efficiency and excellent customer service. I’ve been in this industry for 20 years and I couldn’t fault anything about the service we received. To anybody looking for a professional and reliable childcare centre resource provider, I’d highly recommend STE Products.”
