One stop shop for childcare furniture and resources

Kindy Kids Cromer caters for children from 6 weeks to 6 years. It opened in March 2017 with 5 classrooms and 3 outdoor environments. Setting up a new early learning centre is both rewarding and demanding as there are so many elements to organise. For Rebekah Selles, Co-Director, finding a one stop shop for the childcare furniture, toys and resources made the whole process much easier.

Rebekah explained, ‘The owners of Kindy Kids Cromer had used STEP Learning Resources before and already knew that they were price competitive offering a large range of early learning products. They supply everything you could possibly need for a childcare centre including furniture, toys, outdoor play equipment, art and craft and teaching resources.’

Concept to completion service

Kindy Kids Cromer utilised STEP’s concept to completion service. ‘Dan Kennard from STEP presented us with product and furniture lists for a basic childcare centre set up,’ Rebekah explained, ‘and we added our unique requirements with Dan’s help.

‘We were keen to have ergonomic cots that could double as fire evacuation cots and still match the natural aesthetic style of our centre. The white Ergo cots that Dan recommended are perfect.

‘A team came to deliver the products and set everything up, so it was much more than just an ordering service. It all went very smoothly, and we very much appreciated their flexibility given the busy time with builders and cleaners also on site. The STEP Learning Resources team worked around us and were very accommodating.’

Custom storage and early learning furniture

STEP Learning Resources makes custom childcare furniture at their Australian manufacturing facility. Kindy Kids ordered custom storage and tables including a 12 cube locker unit with a white top and natural wooden sides. The Venice tables follow the same styling with natural wooden legs and white tops with a wooden strip around the edge.

‘The nursery room for 1-2 year olds has custom horseshoe shape tables teamed with poppet chairs,’ Rebekah described. ‘These allow younger children to sit supported while around a table, instead of using a high chair.’

Families praise the multicultural toys

Rebekah reflected on her favourite products: ‘It’s difficult to pick just a few, but the wide variety of multicultural puzzles and toys is often praised by families.

‘In the babies’ room, the mirrored cubby is a stand out favourite. We have a reading nook cubby that we hang fabric across for extra interest in the toddler’s room. The large teepee is also popular for reading and imaginative play.’

‘Outside, all the climbing frames and equipment are from STEP Learning Resources,’ Rebekah pointed out. ‘The Wave Walk set is perfect for gross motor skill development with its balancing and stepping challenges.’

Furniture that is sturdy but not heavy to move

‘Now that we are up and running, we are appreciating even more aspects of STEP’s products,’ Rebekah said. ‘Our educators have commented how easy STEP’s equipment is to move around and store. Items are sturdy but not heavy.

‘We also appreciate the adjustability options as the equipment can be altered to suit different abilities and provide more of a challenge for the older children.

‘The team at STEP Learning Resources were very helpful and easy to work with. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend STEP’s one stop shop!’
