9 Fun Valentine’s Day Child Care Celebration Activities

1. Valentine’s Day Handprint Card
A pink or red handprint with a heart in it can be the most heart-warming gift for mum or dad on Valentine’s Day. You can easily have pre-printed cards with a frame and “Happy Valentine’s Day” on them that children can continue working on.
2. Flowers from Paper
Basic origami flowers are relatively easy to make and children in the four+ age range can complete the task with a little bit of adult assistance.
3. A Hearts Picture Frame
Heart stamps and a bit of paint can go a long way in terms of customising plain and boring picture frames.
4. Heart Jewellery
Heart-shaped beads and a bit of string can get little ones really creative. They’ll find it easy to make a bracelet, a necklace or a keychain for a family member or a friend.
5. Valentine’s Day Posters and Collages
Ask children to bring a few pictures of loved ones they could use in the crafting of love posters or collages. Alternatively, you can ask the parents for digital versions, print those at the child care centre and put together exciting love collages or posters.
6. Large Valentine’s Day Button Heart
You will need a heart from scrapbook paper (make it as big as you want), buttons of different sizes and colours and glue. Give each child a paper heart and let them decorate with the buttons.

8. Sensory Play for Valentine’s Day
Making Valentine’s Day slime and playing with it is a great sensory activity for two and three-year-olds.
9. Q-Tip Painted Hearts
Another fun activity for the youngest, this one teaches fine motor skills. The concept is pretty simple – print out hearts on paper and give children q-tips to dip in paint and fill in the heart shape.
